Aethalometer (AE) is the most commonly used method for measuring black carbon aerosol. Up to now,five different correction algorithms of the AE absorption coefficient have been proposed by several authors. A new algorithm as a corresponding solution is proposed in this paper,which is based on the fact that there are some negative value and infinite value which do not accord with theories and are unrealistic existing in the process of measuring black carbon aerosol. The formula conducts multiple corrections on the Attenuation Coefficient bATN measured and recorded by AE as well as the reference value Cref according to theories such as inertia of accumulation. Both the theoretical analysis and practical application have demonstrated that this new correction algorithm is capable of correcting more than 98% of the measurement values which do not accord with theories and reality when measuring by AE. Furthermore,it reduces the errors occurred in the measurement.
