Mesh Generation of Finite Element Method for Arch Dam


Abstract:
Taking an arch dam as the example,this study examined the relationships between energy error and form of the elements,mesh numbers and the number of degrees of freedom.The comparison between the calculated results of a variety of mesh generation programs showed that the stable stress distribution can be obtained when adopting order element,4 elements in radial direction,the elements of arch direction and beam direction controls with the element length ratio and the element high ratio respectively about 0.05.It can be used for engineering calculations and provide an effective reference for correct and reasonable finite element model of arch dam.
