Isolation of A Fungus with Selective delignification and its Degradation of Corn Stalk*

Fifteen white-rot fungi were screened with corn stalk used as degradation substrate. One white-rot fungus Y10 with high selectivity value was obtained, and it was identified as Cerrena sp. by ITS-5.8S rDNA sequences analysis. The degradation of corn stalk by Y10 in 30 days was then studied. The results indicated that the speed of degrading lignin and hemicellulose by Y10 was faster than that of cellulose; the selectivity value was above 1 during the 30-day cultivation and the highest reached 3.88 after 15 days. The compositions of corn stalk before and after degradation were analyzed through ultraviolet spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy, respectively. It was found that the degradation degree of lignin was greater than that of cellulose by Y10. Fig 4, Tab 3, Ref 17
